Policy Advocacy

We closely track and research the policies shaping how artificial intelligence is adopted in schools, nonprofits, and community settings. We pay particular attention to rules, funding decisions, procurement standards, and regulatory gaps that may unintentionally widen the digital divide. Too often, AI policy is written with large institutions and well-resourced actors in mind, leaving smaller and historically marginalized communities to absorb the risks. We analyze how these policies affect implementation on the ground, especially in Title I schools and distressed organizations.

Our work examines how AI governance can reproduce bias, restrict access, compromise privacy, or deepen economic inequality. We study how algorithmic systems are deployed, who benefits, and who bears the unintended consequences. We also investigate how procurement pipelines and industry partnerships may privilege already advantaged communities. Through research briefs, policy analysis, and public scholarship, we translate these findings into accessible insights for educators, advocates, and community leaders.

But we do not stop at analysis. When we identify policies that risk harming vulnerable communities, we organize, advocate, and push back. We engage lawmakers, regulators, and institutional leaders to demand more equitable frameworks for AI implementation. We collaborate with community partners to elevate lived experience in policy conversations. Our mission is not only to understand how AI policy shapes inequality, but to actively work toward policies that ensure AI expands opportunity rather than concentrates power.
